IPL Playoffs: Mumbai Indians outplay KKR by six wickets, reach final

Bangalore, May 19 (IBNS): In the clash of second qualifier of the tournament, Mumbai Indians outplayed Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets to reach the final in the tenth edition of Indian Premier League, on Friday.

Chasing a low target of 108, MI were clinical right from the beginning and kept their cool to score the necessary runs.

Despite early fall of wickets, the partnership between the skipper Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya of 54 runs helped the team to cross the mark.

Though Sharma went out at 26 (24), Krunal remained unbeaten at 45 and MI scored 111/4 with more than five overs left in the match.

Chawla had the best bowling figure for KKR with 2/34 in four overs.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out by the bowlers of Mumbai Indians to just 107 runs in 18.5 in the second qualifier of the tenth edition of Indian Premier League, on Friday.

Losing the toss, KKR came out to bat and lost the entire top order to just 31 runs.

At one stage KKR was under immense pressure when they were reduced to 31/5 and it was the partnership between Ishank Jaggi and Suryakumar Yadav of 56 runs helped them to touch the triple digit score.

While Yadav scored 31 from 25 balls, Jaggi was dismissed when he was batting at 28.

Karn Sharma picked up four wickets of KKR batting and Jasprit Bumrah had three wickets under his belt.

After this win, Mumbai Indians will face Rising Pune Supergiant in the final of IPL on Sunday.
