IPL play-offs: Rahane and Tiwari score half centuries, Pune post 162/4

Mumbai, May 16 (IBNS): Ajinkya Rahane's 56 (43) and Manoj Tiwari's 58 (48) along with the cameo of aggressive unbeaten 40 from the former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped the Rising Pune Supergiant to post 162 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs, in the first qualifier of the tenth edition of Indian Premier League, on Tuesday.

Losing the toss, Pune came out to bat and failed to get a good start as they have lost the inform batsman Rahul Tripathy and the captain Steve Smith within powerplay overs.

Rahane and Tiwari pulled the scorecard from there with a partnership of 83 runs, before Rahane was dismissed by the spinner Karn Sharma.

Despite a slow start, Dhoni scored 40 runs from just 26 balls hitting only over boundaries, which helped Pune to post a target of 163 for the home team.

Lasith Malinga had the best bowling figure with 1/14 from three overs for Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians need to chase the target with slightly higher than eight runs per over.
