Eden clash: England post 321 for 8 against India in the 3rd one-dayer
Openers Jason Roy and Sam Billings provided a good start to England Innings scoring 65 and 35 respectively after Virat Kohli , captaining India at Eden Gardes for the first time, called correctly and put the visitors to bat.
Roy plunderd his runs off 56 deliveries and hitting as many as 10 bounderis and one sixer before he was bowled by jadeja while Billings, trying to make a reverse sweep off Jadeja was was caught by Pandya.
Roy’s score include ten bounderies and a over boundery off 56 deliveries while Billings played 64 balls to hit five bounderies and a sixer.
Openers apart, J Bairstow and Eoin Morgan who came one and two down added substance to their innings tackling Indian bowlers comfortably.
Bairstow fell victim to Jadeja’s spin after scoring 56 off 54 balls and hitting five bounderies and a six, Morgan failed to connect properly a Pandya delivery and was caught by Bumrah making 43 off 44 balls .He hit two fours and three sixes.
Beside openers and other top order batsmen, it was fine rearguard actions by Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes which enabled the vistors to cross 300 mark as e they hit out Indian bowlers, pacers and spinners alike.
While Ben remained not out making 57 off 39 balls and four bounderies and two over bounderies, Chris was run out after scoring 34 off 39 balls and four bounderies and two over bounderies.
None of the Indian bowlers impressed much.
However, mediumpacer Hardik Pandya and Off spinner R Jadeja attained moderate success bagging three and two England scalps conceding 49 and 62 runs respectively.
While Bumrah got the other wicket conceding 68 runs in his ten over spell, R Ashwin again failed to earn any wicket and conceded 60 runs in his nine over spell.
