Sania Mirza beats Martina Hingis, lifts Cincinnati Open Women's Double title

Cincinnati, Aug 22 (IBNS): Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza recorded a major win against her former partner Martina Hingis, when she and her doubles partner Barbora Stycova defeated the Swiss and her American partner Coco Vandeweghe 7-5,6-4 in the Cincinnati Open Women's doubles final.

By virtue of her win, Mirza is now the sole number one Women's doubles player in the world.

Hingis and Vandeweghe had a 5-1 lead in the opening set, but a dogged play from their opponents saw it disappear in no time.

Mirza and Hingis, the former world number one Women's Doubles pair, split earlier this month but will participate in the year-end WTA Tour Championships in Singapore as a pair, as they had qualified for the tournament while still a pair.

Post her win, Mirza tweeted, "we did itttttt."
