New Delhi, Aug 16 (IBNS): Heaping praise on Indian Olympian Dipa Karmakar, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj referred to her as India's pride.

Tweeting a picture of the pint-sized gymnast, Swaraj tweeted, "India's daughter - nation's pride."

The Indian Embassy in Brazil, where the summer Olympics took place this year, tweeted, "Ambassador conveys EAM @SushmaSwaraj 's warmest wishes and congrats to @DipaKarmakar for making India proud."

The gymnast, who joined Twitter this month, said she was happy with the support she garnered from the audiences.

"Hello everyone, very happy to connect with you all today through my team. Happy Independence Day!" Dipa's maiden tweet read.

Dipa missed out on a Bronze medal on last Sunday, but made history by becoming the first female Indian gymnast to participate in the Olympics and topped it with a final round entry.
