Buenos Aires, Aug 13 (IBNS): Barely two months after Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi parted ways with the national team, he has been featured in their World Cup qualifiers squad, reports said.

The FC Barcelona strongman was quoted in the media as saying that he changed his decision owing to the love he feels for his nation.

"A lot of things went through my mind on the night of the final and I gave serious thought to quitting, but my love for my country and this shirt is too great," he said.

Messi acknowledged that his national side needs a lot of improvement and insists on doing it himself.

"We need to fix many things in Argentinian football, but I prefer to do this from inside and not criticise from outside," he added.

Argentina will face-off against Uruguay and Venezuela for the qualifiers in September.
