Kolkata franchise of Indian Super League to be launched on May 7

Kolkata, May 3 (IBNS): The Kolkata franchise of the Indian Super League will be one of the first to be launched on May 7.

Key officials from the iconic Spanish club, Atlético De Madrid (ATM), also one of the co-owners of the franchise, will be visiting India for its launch announcement.

Miguel Angel Marin, Owner, Atlético  de Madrid; Peter Kenyon, Advisor to ATM (EX- CEO, Chelsea and Ex – CEO, Manchester United);     Emilio Gutierrez, Director of Marketing, ATM and  Carlos Aguilera Martin – Director of Grassroots and Head of Atlético  Academy will be on a whirlwind tour to India.

The Kolkata franchise is the only one to have the backing of a prominent international football club.

Apart from the announcement, their itinerary also includes meetings with eminent personalities from Bengal football like Pradip Kumar Banerjee, Chuni Goswami and Syed Nayeemuddin.

The Kolkata franchisee has four Kolkata based members which include former Indian cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly, Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and Utsav Parekh, Chairman, Smifs Capital Markets Ltd. and Honorary Counsel of the Czech Republic in Kolkata.
