Twitter erupts as India beat England to lift inaugural ICC U19 Women's T20 WC title

Potchefstroom (South Africa): A brilliant show with the new-ball performance was followed by a calm run-chase as India cruised to victory over England in the final to lift the inaugural ICC U19 World Cup title on Sunday.

Following the win, Twitter was engulfed by congratulatory messages. Here are some of the viral tweets.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating the team tweeted,"They have played excellent cricket and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours."

Former captain of the India women's national cricket team, Mithali Raj, tweeted, "Congratulations #TeamIndia, this is a monumental achievement! This fantastic victory shows how dominating you have been throughout the tournament. The triumph is even more special considering this is the first-ever Women's #U19T20WorldCup."

BCCI Women tweeted, "One for the keepers."

ICC tweeted, "The first Women's #U19T20WorldCup champions."

Veteran cricketer Sachin Tandulkar tweeted, "Indian women’s cricket is on the up! First the announcement of the #WPL & now the #U19T20WorldCup win."
