New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he felt 'distressed' hearing about the accident of wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant.

He wished the cricketer a speedy recovery from the disease.

'Distressed by the accident of noted cricketer Rishabh Pant. I pray for his good health and well-being. @RishabhPant17," Modi tweeted.

Indian cricket board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Friday said the condition of wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant remained stable and will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.

Shah said Rishabh met with a car accident early on Friday morning near Roorkee in Uttarakhand and has been admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre where he was treated for impact injuries.

Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back, he said.

"Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," Shah said.

The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh's family while the medical team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating him, Shah said.

The board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase.

According to police sources, Rishabh was coming from Delhi to his home in Roorkee in a Mercedes car. His car ran out of control and crashed into the divider near Mohammadpur Jat in Kotwali Mangalore area around 5.30 am today.

After hitting the divider, the car caught fire. Somehow, the cricketer and another person, including the driver sitting next to him, were pulled out of the car and the injured were taken to Siksham Hospital in Roorkee with the help of the police.
