Mumbai/IBNS Indian batsman Rahul Tewatia scripted a history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his two sixes in the last two balls powering Gujarat Titans to defeat Punjab Kings on Friday.

Chasing a target of 190, Gujarat started off aggressively with Shubman Gill going after the Punjab bowlers.

Gill was briefly supported by Sai Sudharshan (35 off 30 balls) and skipper Hardik Pandya (27 off 18 balls).

While Gill lost his wicket towards the end, missing his maiden IPL hundred by four runs, Rahul Tewatia hit 13 runs off three balls to win the match for Gujarat.

With 12 runs needed in the last two balls, Tewatia went for two sixes leaving his teammates to break into celebrations.

Earlier, Liam Livingstone's 64 off 27 balls helped Punjab to score 189/9 in 20 overs.
