Chris Silverwood becomes new England coach

London: Former English cricketer Chris Silverwood has been appointed as the coach of his country's men's national team.

Silverwood, a first-class English coach, was a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler.

He made his Test debut for England in 1996 against Zimbabwe.

In six Tests for England, Silverwood picked 11 wickets at a bowling average of 40.36. He picked six wickets in seven One Day Internationals (ODIs).

In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, England defeated New Zealand in a dramatic final which headed down to the super over to clinch the title.
