Ishant Sharma puts India on top as West Indies struggle at 189/8

Antigua, Aug 24 (IBNS): After being bowled out for competitive 297 runs in the first innings, West Indies were reduced to 189 runs for the loss of eight wickets at the end of second day of the first Test match here on Friday.

Ishant Shamra took five wickets for India.

West Indies are trailing by 108 runs.

Roston Chase (48 off 47), John Campbell (23 off 30), Darren Bravo (18 off 27), Shai Hope (24 off 65) and Shimron Hetmyer (35 off 47) all gave away their wickets after getting a good start.

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma picked up five wickets and destroyed the opposition almost single-handedly.

Earlier, riding on Ajinkya Rahane's 81 runs, India posted 297 runs.

He smashed 10 boundaries in the knock.

Ravindra Jadeja contributed 58 runs at the end.

Shannon Gabriel (3/71) and Kemar Roach (4/66) picked up wickets for the hosts.
