New Zealand set 242 target for England in World Cup final

London, July 14 (IBNS): New Zealand has set a target of 242 for England in the final of the Cricket World at Lord on Sunday evening.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.

Nicholls was the highest scorer of the side with 55. Woakes and Plunket picked up three wickets each.

At the end of 50 overs, New Zealand were 241 for 8.

It is after 1992 years that England have reached the final fo the showpiece event.

Neither England, nor New Zealand have won the tournament in the past.

This is for the first time that World Cup will be won by a  new team since 1996 when Sri Lanka had grabbed the trophy by beating Australia in the final.
