Hyderabad/IBNS: The trailer of SS Rajamouli's upcoming film Varanasi was unveiled at the grand Globetrotter event in Hyderabad earlier this month.

Now, all eyes are on the music team about what kind of songs will feature in the big budget film, which is headlined by Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Music composer MM Keeravani, who worked in the film in his professional capacity, has recently opened up about the soundtrack of the flick.

Currently at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Keeravani spoke to PTI on the music of the film.

Keeravani, who won the Oscars for Naatu Naatu from RRR, said fans can expect "grandeur" and revealed that there will be six songs in the flick.

Billed as an epic action-adventure film, Varanasi blends time-travel with Hindu mythology, and has hints of episodes linked to the Ramayana.

According to early glimpses, the narrative spans multiple timelines and locations: Varanasi in ancient times (512 CE), Antarctica, African wilderness, and more.

The title “Varanasi” itself refers to the ancient holy city, often considered the spiritual heart of Hinduism.

It will likely be a pan-Indian release, dubbed and released in multiple languages, Telugu, Hindi, possibly others.

The film is expected to release in 2027.
