Los Angeles/IBNS: American actress Sydney Sweeney has opened up about featuring in films like Christy and The Housemaid, which tackle the issue of domestic violence.

Speaking to BBC News, Sweeney emphasized the importance of handling such a sensitive topic with care and expressed her eagerness to take on stories that could “save people's lives.”

“I think it's important to have a lot of care when it comes to that issue because it's very prevalent and needs to be talked about,” Sweeney said.

“I just finished sharing Christy with the world and being able to tell the story of a woman who will hopefully impact and save lives, being able to have a film on a more commercial level discussing a very difficult topic is important.”

In Christy, a sports biopic, Sweeney portrays real-life professional boxer Christy Martin, chronicling her rise to prominence in the 1990s and the personal challenges she faced, including surviving abuse and overcoming adversity.

Her latest release, The Housemaid, is an American psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig and adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling 2022 novel.

Sweeney stars as Millie Calloway, alongside Amanda Seyfried as Nina Winchester, with Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone in supporting roles.
