Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana' trailer release date out: Why makers chose 4:15 AM slot
The much-awaited trailer of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Ramayana' will be unveiled worldwide at 4:15 am IST on July 30, in a unique departure from the usual film marketing strategy.
Producer Namit Malhotra announced the trailer release date and time through an Instagram post, revealing that the first glimpse of the ambitious adaptation will arrive during Brahma Muhurat, considered an auspicious pre-dawn period in Hindu tradition.
"At the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, we welcome the dawn of Ramayana with our trailer," Malhotra wrote.
Trailer delay announced earlier
The trailer was initially expected to release on July 24, but the makers postponed the launch after announcing a partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is among the most ambitious Indian cinematic projects and features a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
Why a 4:15 AM trailer release?
While movie trailers are usually launched during peak social media hours, the makers chose an unusual early morning slot due to its religious significance.
Brahma Muhurat is traditionally regarded as a spiritually significant period before sunrise, associated with prayer, meditation, knowledge and self-reflection.
The period generally occurs around 1.5 hours before sunrise and varies between approximately 3:30 am and 5:30 am, depending on location and season.
According to astrologers, the time is considered symbolic of purity, positive energy and new beginnings.
A ₹4,000 crore cinematic vision
'Ramayana' is planned as a two-part theatrical spectacle based on the Hindu epic.
The first part is scheduled for a global theatrical release on November 8, 2026, while the second part is expected around Diwali 2027.
Producer Namit Malhotra previously said the combined budget for both films could be around $500 million (over ₹4,000 crore), making it one of the most expensive Indian film projects ever attempted.
Star-studded cast brings epic to life
The film also stars Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh and Lara Dutta in key roles.
With its massive scale, international release plans and record-setting budget, the film is being positioned as a global cinematic retelling of one of India's most revered epics.
