Ranbir Kapoor in TIME 100, the lone Indian actor on prestigious list
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been named among this year’s TIME 100, becoming the only Indian actor to feature on the influential global roster.
Released by TIME, the list brings together leading figures from politics, business, entertainment and beyond, including Donald Trump, Zohran Mamdani, Ben Stiller and Sundar Pichai.
Ayushmann Khurrana praises craft
Kapoor’s profile was written by actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who lauded his unique approach to cinema.
"There are actors who chase legacy and there are actors who become one through their craft. Ranbir Kapoor is the latter," he said.
He emphasised that while the industry often prioritises box office success, Kapoor has consistently focused on delivering emotionally rich performances.
"In a world where performances are often amplified, Ranbir internalizes. He shows our culture through quiet restraint. He represents the India that is finally learning how to listen to itself and leaves a mark through simple authenticity," he said.
Khurrana also highlighted his ability to internalise roles and present culturally rooted stories with authenticity, helping Indian narratives resonate globally.
"Ranbir isn’t just a movie star—he’s a storyteller talking to a global audience and telling them stories of a fabled, mythical country where epics like The Ramayana have inspired other civilizations and cultures," Khurrana said.
Big moment ahead with ‘Ramayana’
The recognition comes as Kapoor gears up for his next major project, Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
His first look as Lord Rama was unveiled on Hanuman Jayanti, portraying multiple dimensions of the character.
