Mumbai, Sept 28 (IBNS) Actor Ranbir Kapoor turned a year older as he celebrated his 33rd birthday on Monday.

Born in the year 1982 to actors Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir hails from the famous ‘Kapoor Khaandaan’ of Bombay, considered one of the first families of Bollywood and is a fourth generation actor after his great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor decided to ply the trade in 1927.

After assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the 2005 released, Amitabh Bachchan-Rani Mukerji starrer Black, he debuted in Bhansali’s next project, Saawariya in 2007.

Though the movie failed to impress most, collecting a paltry sum after its run in the box-office, Ranbir’s acting chops was recognized as he bagged almost every Best Debut male award in the ensuing award ceremonies, including the Filmfare award and IIFA award.

His next movie Bachna Ae Haseeno too flopped at the box-office, but Ranbir’s performance was lauded. It also marked the beginning of Ranbir-Deepika relation, a much publicized affair of the actor with colleague Deepika Padukone.

The year 2009 proved to be Ranbir’s year as three of his movies were released, all declared hits by the box-office and earned him a Filmfare Critics awards.

With movies like Raajneeti, Anjaana Anjaani, Rockstar and Barfi in the following years, he delivered a string of successful performances and established himself as one of the most bankable actors in Bollywood.

He has won 5 Filmfare awards from nine nominations and has another 5 IIFA awards from 8 nominations. Ranbir regularly tops the charts of several fashion and lifestyle polls.

Ranbir is awaiting the release of his latest movie Tamasha, slated for a Nov 27 release. It also stars Deepika Padukone and is directed by Imtiaz Ali, with whom he worked in Rockstar.

Fans wished him on his birthday by sending in their messages on social media.
