Kolkata/IBNS: The death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee by drowning at Talsari Beach has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry, with Odisha Police revealing that no permission had been obtained for the shoot where the mishap occurred on Sunday, media reports said.

Rahul died while filming for the Bengali daily soap Bholebaba Paar Karega at Talsari beach.

According to police, the incident took place around 5:30 pm when Rahul and his co-actor Sweta Mishra were dancing in knee-deep seawater and suddenly fell into a ditch.

While Sweta escaped unharmed, Rahul was rushed to Digha State General Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

A viral video from the spot shows a traumatised Sweta desperately trying to understand what had happened to Rahul.

Rahul rose to fame with Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, where he starred opposite his wife Priyanka Sarkar. Over the years, he built a strong presence across films, television, and OTT platforms.

His notable works include films such as Chotushkone, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Byomkesh Phire Elo, and Ebar Shabor, among others.

Recently, he had been hosting a YouTube podcast titled Shohoj Katha, featuring several eminent personalities.

In his personal life, Rahul was married to Priyanka Sarkar. The couple, who have a son named Shahoj, separated in 2017 but reportedly reconciled in 2023 to co-parent their child.
