Proud moment for Bengali cinema! Rango Bibaaho bags Best Film honour at Berlin's Indo-German Film Week

Berlin/IBNS: Bengali feature film Rango Bibaaho (Marriages by Design) has won the Jury Award for Best Film at the 14th Indo-German Film Week 2026 in Berlin, marking a significant achievement for contemporary Bengali cinema on the international stage.

Directed by Amitabha Chaterji, the film was honoured for its compelling storytelling, artistic excellence and sensitive portrayal of relationships and social realities.

Rango Bibaaho impressed viewers and the jury alike with its nuanced narrative and powerful performances, further strengthening its presence on the international film festival circuit.

Reacting to the honour, Chaterji expressed gratitude to the festival organisers, the distinguished jury and audiences for embracing the film. He dedicated the award to everyone who believes in the power of meaningful cinema to transcend borders and connect people through shared human experiences.

The filmmaker said the recognition belonged to the entire cast and crew, whose dedication and collaborative efforts helped bring the project to international acclaim.

Rango Bibaaho (Marriages by Design) explores themes of relationships, identity and societal expectations through a thought-provoking narrative, offering a poignant reflection on contemporary life.
