Patty Duke passes away

California, Mar 30 (IBNS): Actress Patty Duke has passed away on Tuesday, her family confirmed.

She was 69 when death came.

Her son Sean Astin tweeted: "This morning, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian, and champion for mental health, Anna PATTY DUKE Pearce, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place. We celebrate the infinite love and compassion she shared through her work and throughout her life."

Patty Duke first became known as a teen star, winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 16 for her role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (1962), a role which she had originated on Broadway.
