Lucknow/UNI: Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor is likely to be interrogated by the Lucknow police after her isolation period which is going to end in next two weeks, sources said here on Friday.

Police will serve a notice to the singer soon, according to sources.

Singer Kapoor was admitted at SGPGI and was discharged from hospital after testing negative for the Novel Coronavirus(COVID-19).

Though she is discharged from the hospital, she has to stay in isolation for the coming 14 days.

She was admitted to the hospital on March 20 after she tested positive. Later after two negative tests, Kanika was released from the hospital early this week.

Now, the Lucknow Police is planning to interrogate Kanika once her isolation period is over.

A case was lodged against the singer for hiding her travel history and attending lavish parties after returning from London on March 9.

She has been charged under IPC Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and Section 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) under IPC by the Sarojini Nagar police.

Sources said the case registered against the singer lacked evidence as no one, who came in contact with Kanika, was tested positive.

“Police will interrogate her to know the details of the persons with whom she met during her stay outside the country and to who she met during her return to the country. The aim behind the quizzing is like the tracking done for corona positive patients," the sources said.

ACP Deepak Singh said here on Friday that she will be served a notice soon and will be interrogated in the time to come. “The interrogation will be done after her quarantine period was over,” he said.
