Hyderabad/IBNS: South Indian superstar Prabhas starrer Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on May 9.

But due to General Elections in the country, the film's release date has been postponed.

As per a report by 123telugu.com, the film might get its theatrical release on May 30 when elections in major parts of the country will be over.

Apart from Prabhas, Kalki 2898 AD stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in the lead.

The film's timeline will commence with Indian epic Mahabharata and merge with 2989 AD.

Ashwin had said as quoted by News 18, "The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.

"The film begins 6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed."
