India BO: "The Jungle Book" earns more than Rs 70 crore in opening week

Mumbai, Apr 15 (IBNS) Filmmaker Jon Favreau's 3D live-animation adventure fantasy film "The Jungle Book" is performing strong at the Indian Box office as it earned more than Rs 70 crore in its opening week.

The Hollywood film has been released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Film critic Taran Adarsh said the film earned Rs 74.08 crore in the opening week.

"#TheJungleBook Fri 10.09 cr, Sat 13.51 cr, Sun 16.87 cr, Mon 7.60 cr, Tue 7.07 cr, Wed 7.97 cr, Thu 10.97 cr. Total: ₹ 74.08 cr nett. WOW!" Adarsh tweeted.

The film, which features Indian-American actor Neel Sethi as the evergreen character of Mowgli, hit the Indian screens on Apr 8.

The film was released a week before it hit the silver screen in the US.
