Mumbai, Aug 26 (IBNS) National Award winning director, Hansal Mehta's next venture Aligarh will have its world premiere at the 20th Busan Film Festival.

Mehta, who skyrocketed to fame with his critically acclaimed movie Shahid, is all set to wow cine-goers with Aligarh, also based on a true story about a Marathi professor who gets suspended by his university for being gay.

The film brings together two of Indian cinema’s brightest acting talents in form of veteran thespian Manoj Bajpai and Mehta’s frequent collaborator, Rajkumar Rao.

“I think it’s a special reward to a fantastically dedicated team that worked on making Aligarh so special. Busan is Asia’s biggest film festival and being selected as part of such an excellent line-up is an honour,” Mehta said.

Producer Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd said, "We are elated at the selection of our film, Aligarh for its World Premiere at a prestigious film festival like BIFF. This strengthens our belief at Eros International in backing the vision of directors like Hansal who make meaningful cinema with a human touch."

The film festival will commence on October 1 and conclude on the October 10.
