Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has scripted a strong box office comeback with Awarapan 2, which has crossed the Rs 91 crore mark in net domestic collections within four days of its release, according to Sacnilk.

The film earned Rs 9.25 crore on Monday, taking its overall India net collection past Rs 91 crore. Its worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 130.82 crore despite a significant drop in daily earnings on Monday.

The sequel is now eyeing the Rs 100-crore club and has already surpassed the lifetime collection of Hashmi's Raaz 3.

Biggest opening of Emraan Hashmi’s career

Awarapan 2 opened at around Rs 22 crore net in India on its first day, according to early trade reports, marking the biggest opening of Hashmi's career.

The film collected around Rs 81.75 crore net in its first three days before adding another Rs 9.25 crore on Monday.

A sequel to a cult favourite

Awarapan 2 is the sequel to Emraan Hashmi's 2007 cult romantic thriller Awarapan.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, the film sees Hashmi reprise his role as Shivam, while Disha Patani joins the franchise. Shabana Azmi also plays a key role.

The sequel continues Shivam's journey through love, loss, crime and redemption. Haunted by his past, Shivam is drawn back into the criminal underworld after encountering a woman in danger, forcing him to confront his old demons and fight once again for someone he cares about.

Why the film matters to Emraan Hashmi

The success of Awarapan 2 is significant for Hashmi as it turns nostalgia for one of his most popular characters into a strong theatrical comeback.

Nearly two decades after the original film, the return of Shivam has connected with audiences while also giving Hashmi his biggest opening and one of his strongest box office performances as a leading actor.

With the film already nearing the Rs 100-crore milestone, Awarapan 2 could prove to be an important turning point in Hashmi's career and provide fresh momentum for his next phase.
