Mumbai/IBNS: Legendary actor Amitabh Bachhan, who tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, is now 'stable with mild symptoms', authorities of Mumbai's Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, where he is admitted, said in a statement.

The veteran actor, 77, and his son Abhishek Bachchan, 44, were admitted to the hospital on Saturday after the duo tested positive for the contagion.

Both are currently kept in the isolation unit of the hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan's wife Jaya Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have tested negative for the virus, news reports said.

Speaking about the megastar and his son's health conditions, Dr Abdul Samad Ansari, the head of critical care in Nanavati hospital, told NDTV on Sunday: "Huge responsibility on our shoulders to treat the biggest icon and his son. Their condition is stable. They have mild symptoms and their vitals are under control... usually by 10-12th day, peak disease impact on body is witnessed."

"Today would be 5th day since Amitabh ji's symptoms had surfaced...have to watch closely for another seven days and see how the disease evolves...in the next 3 days, we will be able to see the evolution trajectory... very likely that he may remain to have a very mild version," he added.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday,  Big B himself informed about his health condition and had tweeted, "I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !"

Abhishek too informed his followers about his testing positive for the contagion on Twitter.

"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for Covid-19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you," the junior Bachchan tweeted.

Meanwhile, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) team arrived at the megastar’s residence-Jalsa on Sunday to sanitise the same.

According to television reports, BMC frontline workers arrived in full PPE Kit to sanitise his house and the nearby areas.

They have been asked to screen people of the locality as a part of contact tracing work.

Since Saturday night, social media is flooding with prayer messages for Big B and his actor son.

The Bollywood legend, whose last film 'Gulabo Sitabo' premiered last month on an OTT platform owing to the pandemic, has been especially active on social media to create awareness about the virus, advising people to adopt precautionary measures to fight the same.
