Alpha
Alia Bhatt unleashes her fiercest avatar yet in Alpha trailer; Hrithik Roshan cameo rumours explode
Mumbai/IBNS: The trailer of Alpha, the upcoming Hindi action thriller starring Alia Bhatt, blends mythology, nationalism and high-octane action, offering a glimpse into what promises to be one of the year's biggest releases.
Alongside Alia, the film features Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.
A mythological backdrop
The 2-minute-33-second trailer opens with Bobby Deol's character naming a baby girl Sita because her mother was named Janaki, drawing inspiration from the Ramayana.
As the story unfolds, Sita narrates how she was abducted by Fateh, played by Deol, whom she describes as a "rakshas" (demon).
While an earlier teaser suggested Fateh was her father, the trailer reveals he is not her biological parent but the man who raised and trained her for a larger mission.
Alia's assassin avatar takes centre stage
Alia Bhatt plays a deadly assassin who has been trained to kill.
The trailer showcases her transformation into a fierce action star as she takes on multiple adversaries while confronting her former mentor-turned-enemy.
Packed with intense combat sequences, the trailer highlights Alia's physically demanding role and her battle against powerful forces.
Sharvari joins the mission
The action escalates when Sharvari's character joins Alia in a bid to stop Fateh.
"Sharvari's character arc is purposely kept under wraps in the trailer as she plays a very important role in the film, but the trailer signifies her teaming up with Alia in a bid to stop Bobby Deol at any cost," Yash Raj Films said in a statement.
Anil Kapoor and the mystery of Alpha
Anil Kapoor is briefly introduced in the trailer and appears to be closely linked to the mysterious Alpha programme, which forms the backbone of the story.
The trailer concludes with Alia and Sharvari meeting an unidentified character whose face remains hidden, with only close shots of his eyes visible.
The sequence has fuelled speculation that Hrithik Roshan could have a significant role in the film.
Release date
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 3, 2026.
