Alia Bhatt says breastfeeding helped her in postpartum weight loss process: 'It burns a lot of calories'
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has recently opened up about how she managed to lose weight in a short time after giving birth to her child, rubbishing the perception of a section of netizens who thought she had embraced an unnatural process.
Alia, who tied the knot with popular actor Ranbir Kapoor in 2022, gave birth to her daughter Raha the same year.
In a recent conversation with Kajol and Twinkle Khanna on their show Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle, Alia shared breastfeeding played a major role in her postpartum weight loss.
Alia says, "I remember after giving birth to Raha, I actually put on quite a bit of weight. I didn't actually put on weight, I put on a baby. And then I delivered my baby and I was breastfeeding her. Breastfeeding apparently burns a lot of calories and I was also eating clean. So, I actually lost a lot of the weight very quickly."

"I remember there was a picture of mine that came out, and they were like 'Oh, my God!' you know and the 'trolls' were like 'she has done through an unnatural process. She is not, you know, why did she have to lose weight so quickly? It's fine. Take your time, Alia. We get it, you've had a baby'. I actually saw this.
"And I was like 'Oh no! It just naturally happened' but I really liked the idea that people are thinking the opposite way now in a way, maybe a certain section of people. They say 'you do you.. be whatever size you want to be. Nobody really cares'," the 32-year-old adds.
Alia promoted her film Brahmastra which also featured Ranbir in the lead alongside Amitabh Bachchan during pregnancy in 2022.
Her first film after giving birth to Raha was Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which went on to become a massive hit.
Alia, who was last seen in Jigra, will next feature in Alpha, which is due to release later this year.
She will feature alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Love & War.
