Hyderabad/Mumbai/IBNS: Prabhas's 'Salaar' was on Friday released on big screens to a loud cheer amid stiff competition from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki'.

While 'Dunki', a Rajkumar Hirani film, was released on December 21, 'Salaar' was brought to the audience on 22nd of the same month.

Amid mixed responses, 'Dunki' has struggled on the first two days since its release.

It has crawled to Rs. 30 crore on the first day and Rs. 10 less on the second, as per a report by Sacnilk.com.

The same site says 'Salaar' has collected Rs. 95 crore in India on the first day to shatter the opening day collection of SRK's 'Jawan', which was his second consecutive hit of the year.

Prabhas' film is expected to earn around Rs. 175 crore worldwide, overshadowing one of the biggest superstars of the country, Shah Rukh Khan.

Set in a fictional city of Khansaar, the story of 'Salaar' revolves around Deva and Vardham, played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, respectively.

Apart from the two, the film, which is directed by Prashanth Neel, features Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu in the lead.

Along with Telugu, Prabhas' film is released in four other languages, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
