Mumbai, Feb 28 (IBNS): The Indian film fraternity on Wednesday bit a final adieu to Bollywood icon Sridevi, whose funeral will take place this afternoon, media reports said.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, Sushmita Sen, Kajol, Ajay Devgan, Tanuja and many others have dropped in to the Celebration Sports Club in Mumbai on Wednesday to pay homage to the actress.

The mortal remains of Sridevi, who died due to "accidental drowning" in a hotel bathtub on Saturday night, were brought  to Mumbai on Tuesday.

Sridevi was off to Dubai to attend a marriage ceremony.

Though the initial reports said the actress had passed away due to cardiac arrest, later the forensic report claimed it to be "accidental drowning" that created somewhat mystery.

Some media reports also claimed that traces of alcohol have been found in her blood in the autopsy report.

Sridevi's husband Bonney Kapoor, who incidentally flew to Dubai to surprise his wife, reportedly found her unconscious in the bathtub.

She was taken to a hospital but was declared brought dead.

Sridevi's body was brought to Mumbai by her husband Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor.

The last rite will take place at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery on Wednesday at around 3.30 in the afternoon.

The news of Sridevi’s death came as a huge shock to the entire film fraternity as well as her fans.

In a recent post on Instagram, Kajol said: "U r loved mourned missed remembered . And forever relevant ! If cinema has a hundred years u were in fifty of them..... . Keep smiling #sridevi."
