Mumbai, Dec 23 (IBNS): Amid reports that an FIR was lodged against Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra at Mumbai's Andheri police station on Saturday allegedly for using the word 'bhangi' as a ridicule during a public show, the 'Baazigar' actor said her words were misinterpreted and she had no intentions to hurt any person's sentiment.

"Some of my words from an interview in the past have been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of hurting anyone’s feelings," Shetty tweeted.

She also apologised for the remark and tweeted: "I apologize if they have. I’m proud to belong to a country that boasts of diverse castes and creeds and I respect each one of them.."

The complaint has been lodged by Navin Ramchandra Lade, general secretary of Rojgar Aghari Republican Part of India.

Lade, a member of the scheduled caste, said in his complaint that by using the word 'bhangi' in the television show, the actors have insulted the sentiment of the scheduled castes, media reported.

The media quoted Lade as saying, "I felt insulted and humiliated being a member of Scheduled Caste myself. I feel very pained and hurt due to the insulting statement made by Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty."
