Google doodles to celebrate RD Burman's 77th birth anniversary

Mountain View, Jun 27 (IBNS): Google on Monday dedicated a doodle to celebrate late musician RD Burman's 77th birth anniversary.
RD Burman, the late composer was born in 1939 to composer Sachin Dev Burman and his wife Meera.

Having composed music for 300- odd films, RD was known for his catchy beats.
 
Pancham, as he was commonly known in the close circle, created a place of his own shedding the tag of the son of an illustrious father. Beginning the journey at a tender age as a musical whizkid, RD grew into an institution mesmerising one and all through the sixties, seventies and eighties with his notes-from quintessential folk to western and often magical fusions.


RD composed his first song at the age of nine, which was used by his father Sachin Dev Burman in the 1956 film Funtoosh.

Some of his notable performances came in the films  Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Tisri Manzil (1966), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963),Bandini (1963), Ziddi (1964), Guide (1965),Teen Devian (1965), Sholay (1974), Jo Jita Ohi Shikandar (1992), Dil vil pyar vyar (1993) and 1942 a love story (1994)
 
Burman married twice. His first marriage was to Rita Patel. the couple divorced after five years. He later married singer Asha Bhosle. The marriage lasted till his death in 1994.
 
He won three Filmfare Awards from a total of 18 nominations.
