CBI for SSR: Bollywood actors demand justice for Sushant Singh Rajput
Mumbai/IBNS: Several Bollywood actors have called for justice for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput who had committed a suicide at his own flat in Mumbai's Bandra in mid-June.
The suicide has created a ripple effect with several actors and netizens calling out Bollywood biggies for encouraging nepotism, allegedly leading Sushant to commit suicide.
Though the Mumbai Police were probing into the suicide, Sushant's father KK Singh lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with Bihar Police alleging that Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had siphoned off Rs 15 crore from his son's account and other accounts of companies floated with his investments.
As per the recommendation by the Bihar government, the death case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In this backdrop, several Bollywood actors have demanded justice for the onscreen Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Actress Kriti Sanon, who was once rumoured to be dating Sushant, wrote on an Instagram story, "I pray that the Truth comes out SOON.. His family, his friends, fans and all loved ones deserve this closure.. CBI takes over the case so it's investigated without any political agendas, in the TRUE sense, to provide justice to the Family!! It's high time his soul rests in peace! #CBIForSSR #SushantSinghRajput"
"cbiforSSR" actor Varun Dhawan wrote in his Instagram story.
Actress Parineeti Chopra wrote, "All that is needed, is the truth. #JusticeForSSR."
Demanding justice for Sushant, the late actor's ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande wrote on Instagram, "Post a pic of yours with folded hands and join the campaign #GlobalPrayers4SSR at 10 am(IST) on 15th August. Let’s Pray together for truth to shine forth and for God to guide us."
