Mumbai, Feb 18 (IBNS): In the wake of the terrorist attack which left over 40 Indian paramilitary personnel martyred last week, All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) on Monday announced a ban on all Pakistani artistes, media reports said.

Pakistan-based militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack.

"We're officially announcing a total ban on Pakistani Actors and Artists working in Film Industry. Still if any organisation insist on working with Pakistani Artists will be banned by AICWA and a strong action will be taken against them," AICWA said in a statement.

Actor Ajay Devgn on Monday said his film Total Dhamaal will not release in Pakistan.

Devgn tweeted: "In light of the current situation the team of Total Dhamaal has decided to not release the film in Pakistan."

In a similar move after the Pathankot terrorist attack in 2016, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA) had banned Pakistani artists and actors amid the bilateral tension.

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, who was a part of Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, had to leave the film midway.

Likewise, an actress from the neighbouring country, Mahira Khan, could not take part in the promotional activities of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees.

Raees marked the Bollywood debut of Mahira.
