Devotees in north Kolkata’s Ariadaha celebrate kalash (pitcher) yatra with dance and performances in the streets as they (women) proceed to fetch water a day before from the holy Ganges for bathing the deities tomorrow during Jagannath Snana Yatra, which is a bathing festival of deities in holy water. Women preserve the water for bathing the deities (who remain in palanquins during kalash yatra) the next day. Jagannath Snana Yatra is another name for Dev Snana Purnima. At this ceremony, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra emerge for the first time outside of a temple before Rath Yatra begins. Deities are bathed in 108 different pots.

Of Dares and Thrills: Glimpses Of Bengal's Charak Festival In Kolkata

Charak Festival, also known as Charak Puja or Gajan Festival, is celebrated in Bengal marking the end of the Bengali calendar year. It is observed on Chaitra Sankranti, usually on April 14 ahead of Poila Baishak or the Bengali New Year. Deeply rooted in devotion to Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti, the rituals involved acrobatics and more, aimed at seeking prosperity. Some of the rituals of penance include piercing the body with sharp instruments, walking on hot coals, and swinging from poles with hooks attached to their backs. French prêt-à-porter house Gauchere, founded in 2013 by designer Marie-Christine Statz, showcased its Ready-to-Wear Fall 2024 collection at the Paris Fashion Week on Feb 29. "Neo-Brutalist architecture and the Bauhaus movement continued to influence the work of creative director Marie-Christine Statz, who sent out a collection of structured silhouettes softened by sporty and sheer touches," reported Women's Wear Daily on her latest collections.

Designer Cecilie Bahnsen showcased her Fall Winter 2024 Ready-to-Wear Collection at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week on Feb 28. She brought forward a new expression of her vision. Embracing a darker side of romance and interpreting a wider range of emotions, the looks feature clashing materials: high gloss leather against soft barely-there organza, shiny nylon paired with matte knits. “I wanted the collection to have a bit of an edge, taking a step away from innocence and sweetness,” Bahnsen said, according to Vogue.

Glimpses of the Christian Dior show (street style) in Tuileries Garden in Paris on day one (Feb 26, 2024) of the Paris Fashion Week. At the Christian Dior presentation the "Ready to Wear" fall 2024 collection was showcased.
