Washington: White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday announced she has tested COVID-19 positive.

Psaki, 42, thanked vaccination and said she only experienced mild symptoms.

"I am disclosing today’s positive test out of an abundance of transparency," she said in her statement.

She said she last saw President Joe Biden on Tuesday and they sat outside, more than six-feets apart.

She said they wore masks during the meeting.

Psaki decided not to join Biden on a foreign trip recently as a member of her household tested positive for the virus.

She decided to quarantine after that.
