US: Nine people hurt during mass shooting in Denver, suspect taken into custody

At least nine people were hurt in a mass shooting incident in the US city of Denver, media reports said on Tuesday.

"Nine total gunshot victims have been identified from the shooting in the 2000 Block of Market St, plus a suspect who also sustained a gunshot wound. 3 victims are in critical condition, the other victims & the suspect are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries," police tweeted.

Police said the suspect has been taken to custody.

He was also reportedly shot in the incident.

"DPD is investigating a shooting in the 2000 block of Market St. Preliminary information indicates there are four victims who are being transported to the hospital. Officers took a possible suspect into custody who also has a suspected gunshot injury. Investigation ongoing," the police tweeted.

The shooting happened on Market Street, close to Ball Arena, where the city's basketball team, the Denver Nuggets, won their first NBA championship on Monday night, reports BBC.
