Washington/IBNS: Multiple gunshots were heard on Tuesday near the site in US' Minneapolis where people were observing the first anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, reports said.

An AFP photographer, who was present at the intersection in Minneapolis, known as George Floyd memorial square, said a crowd that had assembled to mark the first anniversary of Floyd's death scattered when the shots were heard.

A US jury in the state of Minnesota had in April found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty in the African-American George Floyd murder case.

The Jury found him guilty on three charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

On May 25, 2020, while trying to arrest Floyd, the cop was kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes. In the video, Floyd could be heard saying: "I can’t breathe" when Chauvin’s knee was on his neck. Subsequently, Floyd became unconscious and died at a hospital.

The incident triggered mass protest across the world.

The Floyd family, meanwhile, met President Joe Biden in Washington on Tuesday and urged lawmakers to pass a reform bill known as the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.
