Washington/IBNS: The United States not only has the world's highest Coronavirus deaths but the toll has crossed over 30,000, a tally by the John Hopkins University recorded on Thursday.

The live tracker of JHU reported 31,002 deaths and 640,014 total affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The US long surpassed Italy, the worst-hit country in Europe, whose death toll stands at 21,645.

Italy is followed by Spain, which recorded 19,130 deaths so far.

New York, the epicentre of the country's COVID-19 epidemic, has been the worst-hit and witnessed more than 14,000 deaths across the state alone.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is supposed to reveal the plans of reopening economy on Thursday.

As he believes that the country has "passed its peak" and the Coronavirus curve is flattening, he might ease restrictions by May 1.
