US: Donald Trump hails SC decision on travel ban

Washington, June 27 (IBNS): US President Donald Trump on Tuesday appreciated the Supreme Court ruling that travel ban on several Muslim-majority countries is lawful.

The ruling was 5-4 along partisan lines, with Chief Justice John Roberts writing for the conservative majority, reported CNN.

Trump tweeted: " SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS TRUMP TRAVEL BAN. Wow!."

He was quoted by CNN as saying, "This ruling is also a moment of profound vindication following months of hysterical commentary from the media and Democratic politicians who refuse to do what it takes to secure our border and our country."

The ruling by the apex court affirmed Trump's signature policies that he had instituted via executive orders just days after taking office.

The challengers against Trump's policy included the state of Hawaii.

The challengers also argued that the travel ban exceeded the President's authority under immigration law as well as the Constitution.
