Unknown gunmen kill Deputy Head of Paktia Provincial Council

Kabul: Unknown gunmen killed the deputy head of Paktia Provincial Council in Gardez city of Afghanistan on Saturday, media reports said.

Ayub Gharwal was on his way to the Paktia University when he came under attack by unknown armed men in Boland Manzel area in Gardez city, Paktia governor Halim Fedaee was quoted as saying by Tolo News.

He added that Gharwal was wounded in the attack and sustained to his injuries in the provincial hospital.

Police have started an investigation into the incident.

President Ashraf Ghani in a statement condemned the attack on Ayub Gharwal and assigned a team to probe the incident, reports Tolo News.
