New York, Nov 26 (IBNS): United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has underlined that any use of chemical weapons against civilians and under any circumstances is a clear violation of international law, amid reports of their alleged use in Syria’s war-battered Aleppo.

Secretary-General Guterres is “following very closely” the reports of alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians in Aleppo, according to a tweet posted by the UN spokesperson’s office on their official account, @UN_Spokesperson.

“Any confirmed use of such weapons, by any party to the conflict and under any circumstances, is abhorrent and a clear violation of international law,” the tweet added.

According to media reports, about one hundred people have been injured in recent fighting in Aleppo governorate.
