Hanoi, Nov 6 (IBNS) : A powerful typhoon raging in  Vietnam's south-central coast has killed at least 49 people and  left more than a dozen missing, media reports said.

The typhoon, that hit Vietnam on Saturday, caused widespread flooding, destroying more than 116,000 homes and extensive damage to property.

Among those missing are nine crew members of cargo ships that sank off the coast of Khanh Hoa province.

Typhoon Damrey  has already dissipated, but forecast of heavy rain in the region threatens to worsen the flooding, reports said.
