Two Lebanese soldiers, IS militant killed in armed clashes in northern Lebanon

Beirut/Xinhua: A total of two Lebanese soldiers and one militant were killed early Sunday in armed clashes in northern Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.

The militants who belong to the Islamic State opened fire toward the army members in Minieh area and the soldiers responded. Two other militants fled away.

A statement released by the Lebanese army said one of the militants had planned to blow himself up with an explosive belt in the army center in Minieh.

Similar clashes took place in Wadi Khaled area on Saturday night, leaving 13 militants dead and 15 others arrested.
