Truck loaded with pigs for slaughtering crashes at Burlington

Toronto, Oct 5 (IBNS): A transport truck carrying pigs to a slaughterhouse overturned in Burlington, setting free a few animals on the road.

The incident happened after 7am in the morning near Harvester Road and Appleby Line intersection.

According to a statement released by the Halton Regional Police, the truck somehow lost its control and flipped over, causing the roof of the vehicle to break open.

As a result of the accident, the driver however sustained some minor injuries.

Although it is unclear at the moment whether pigs were injured or not, however there were some blood stains on the animals too.

Police said the pigs were being transported to Fearmans Pork Plant, located on Appleby Line, close to the place of accident.

The eastbound lane of Harvester Road from Appleby Line has been shut while police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
