'Tools we haven’t used yet': JD Vance’s warning fuels nuclear fears as Trump escalates rhetoric on Iran

With the clock ticking toward Donald Trump’s deadline, US Vice President JD Vance issued a stark warning to Iran, saying Washington still has “tools in our toolkit” that have not yet been used, even as he expressed hope that diplomacy could prevail.

Vance’s comments sparked widespread concern that the United States could consider extreme measures, including nuclear options.

An account linked to Kamala Harris suggested the remarks implied such a possibility, amplifying fears amid already heightened tensions.

White House pushes back sharply

The White House swiftly dismissed the speculation, taking to X to reject the interpretation and criticize those drawing such conclusions.

Earlier, Trump escalated rhetoric dramatically, warning that “a whole civilisation will die tonight.”

In a Truth Social post, he described the moment as potentially historic, adding that although he did not want such an outcome, it “probably will” happen.

Iran fires back with strong words

Iran responded with equally sharp rhetoric. The Iranian Embassy in South Africa warned that the US and its allies would face an “unforgettable hit,” while the Iranian Embassy in Turkiye dismissed Trump’s remarks as the threats of a “psychopath,” asserting Iran’s resilience through centuries of conflict.

With warnings, denials, and counter-threats intensifying by the hour, uncertainty looms over the next phase of the crisis, as the world watches closely for whether diplomacy holds—or gives way to a dangerous escalation.
