Atlanta, Dec 14 (IBNS): Thousands of commuters were left stranded at the Hartsfield-Jackson international airport in Atlanta, the world's busiest airport, as the facility grappled with power outage on Sunday.

The blackout also forced the cancellation of about 1000 flights.

The Hartsfield-Jackson entertains more than 250,000 passengers and 2,500 flights everyday.

Power has been restored since and the airport is now operatonal.

"TSA checkpoints will open @ 330. *Passengers with a ticket dated 12/17 will need to reprint ticket before being processed thru checkpoints," a tweet from the official handle of Atlanta Airport read.
