Sri Lankan delegation to visit China

| @indiablooms | Oct 04, 2022, at 10:31 pm

Colombo: A high-profile Sri Lankan delegation will visit China, perhaps in November, a newspaper announced on Tuesday.

This was discussed when the Foreign Ministers of the two countries -- Ali Sabry and Wang Yi -- met on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Sabry told Daily Mirror that the Sri Lankan delegation will undertake an official visit to China possibly in November. He did not specify whether it would be at ministerial or presidential levels.

He said the visit would take place once Covid restrictions are eased in Beijing.

China is Sri Lanka’s largest bilateral creditor followed by Japan and India. Sri Lanka and China have started low-level discussions on debt refinancing.
