Canadian PM Justin Trudeau remembered the days he spent in school with his friend Matthew Perry and said the news of his death left him shocked.

Perry (whose mother, Suzanne Morrison, was press secretary to Trudeau's father, former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau), went to elementary school with Justin, reported People.

Justin Trudeau posted on X: "Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed."

American actor Matthew Perry, best known for portraying Chandler Bing on the television sitcom 'Friends', was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday. He was 54.

According to reports, Perry was found dead in a jacuzzi at his home, and no drugs were found at the scene.

Warner Brothers issued a statement on the death of Perry.

"We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans," it said.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE that officers responded to a call at Perry's address regarding the death of a male in his 50s, but would not confirm the deceased's identity.

However, the police have ruled out any foul play.
